UNCLE BILL – MY FAVOURITE…
UNCLE BILL
A Rola Colas song about headlines, fact-checks, conspiracy theories — and having a think

Well said, Bill…
That gave me a thrill.
The latest Rola Colas track, “Uncle Bill,” takes a controversial story that has been circulating online for years and turns it into a cheeky, darkly comic piece of Northern indie satire.
It starts with a newspaper, a photograph and a headline from June 2011 — an image that has been repeatedly shared online alongside claims about Bill Gates, vaccination, depopulation and the so-called “Zero Carbon Solution.”
Then Ray does what Ray does best.
He starts asking questions.
The song deliberately plays with the collision between conspiracy theory and fact-checking. The official explanation is brought into the song too: Gates’ comments about vaccination and population growth have been interpreted as being about reducing future population growth by improving child survival and family security — not about killing people or forcibly reducing the existing population.
And then comes the cheeky Rola Colas response:
“Well said, Bill…
That gave me a thrill…”
That’s where “Uncle Bill” really finds its personality.
It isn’t a solemn protest song.
It’s sarcastic.
It’s mischievous.
And sometimes it’s deliberately ridiculous.
Then comes one of the song’s darkest comic moments:
John took the jab…
To get in a cab…
Got a pain in his head…
And John got dead…
It’s intentionally exaggerated black humour — a ridiculous rhyme built around the way stories can become distorted when complicated subjects are reduced to simple cause-and-effect claims.
Then Ray turns directly to the listener:
“The Rola Colas say — Have a think…
Don’t believe every nod or wink…”
And that’s probably the simplest description of the song.
Have a think.
Don’t automatically believe the conspiracy.
But don’t automatically switch your brain off because somebody says “fact checked” either.
The song’s recurring headline becomes the hypnotic centrepiece:
“Depopulation Through Forced Vaccination —
A Zero Carbon Solution!”
Repeated again and again, it becomes almost like a newspaper clipping stuck in your head.
And underneath all the sarcasm is the Rola Colas question:
Who do you believe?
The newspaper?
The conspiracy?
The fact-check?
The politician?
The scientist?
The bloke on Facebook?
Or do you actually stop scrolling for five minutes and have a think for yourself?
That’s what “Uncle Bill” is about.
Not telling you what to believe.
Making you question why you believe it.
And, of course, giving Uncle Bill a little bit of stick along the way.
Well said, Bill…
That gave me a thrill.
ROLA COLAS
UNCLE BILL
Question everything.
Believe nothing blindly.
Have a think.

Uncle Bill…
